Project Description
The purpose of the project was to transfer the potable water (500,000 cum/day) produced at the New Marafiq Desalination Plant located within the Industrial City of Jubail to the cities of the Eastern Province namely Safwa, Qatif, Sayhat & Dammam as well as upgrading the blending stations located in Dammam, Ras Tanurah, Al Jubail, Dahran & Al Khobar. The project was also including the upgrading works in the existing Hofuf Water Transmission System which supplies water to Abqaiq and Hofuf cities from Al Khobar Desalination Plant to increase the capacity from 91,000 cum to 182,000 cum.
The design capacity of the pumping station (PS1) and the pipeline was 500,000 cum/day. And the total length of the pipeline was 135 km where the transmission pipeline diameter was 76″, 68″, 64″& 60″. In addition 12 each steel tanks with a total capacity of 730,000 cum constructed at PS1 & various blending stations along with several support and ancillary building and facilities.
